The objective is to find a flower, Blood Orchid, that flourishes for a couple of weeks every seven years and could be a fountain of youth, prolonging the expectation of life of human beings.
They are succeeded and once in Borneo, they realize that it is the raining season and there is no boat available to navigate on the river. User reviews Review. Top review. I personally preferred it over the first Anaconda. I am not a fan really of the first Anaconda, and was expecting this movie to be worse. Actually I think it is better than the first Anaconda for quite a few reasons. While the story is very predictable, the script occasionally weak but also with enough humour and snappy lines to savour, the direction too low-key in places and the pace uneven, what made Anacondas:The Hunt for the Blood Orchid better was more suspense and less cheese which I appreciated.
Also any scenes that needed suspense did have it and in a satisfying amount too. The scenery is splendid, the effects are quite decent even if the anacondas are underused somewhat and the music further adds to the atmosphere. The acting is better for me here too, the leads were likable and efficient enough and at least there wasn't Jon Voight and his dreadful accent to drag things down this time. Overall, entertaining if flawed. TheLittleSongbird Mar 14, Details Edit.

Top Gap. Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid. By Steve Head Updated: 7 Oct pm. Let's face it. It isn't the story and it isn't the characters. Anacondas it's all about the snake, or in this case, snakesssss — plural. There's a few small ones, but for the most part the foot-long ones wreak all the havoc. They'll take anyone. Have a inch waist? No problem. One of these overgrown land-serpents can accommodate. Being about the snakes, the most pressing question you might ask about this movie is: do the sequences with the snakes pay-off?
To that I would have to answer: yes, they do. In fact, Anacondas has a couple downright whiplash attack sequences. You'll see one character yanked under water, reemerge seconds later inserted in the jaws of an anaconda, get thrashed around by what then looks like a giant Wham-O Willy Waterbug tentacle, and you'll think, "I knew it was coming, but did that just happen? Where do we go beyond that? First, there's the reason potential victims get near the snakes.
Bring it on: The Blood Orchid — a flower that blooms for two weeks once every seven years, and only in a very remote part of the jungle near Borneo.
What does the orchid have that sets it apart from every other one? It contains a liquid that can prolong life; a virtual fountain of youth. Get a few samples, enough to replicate and sell as a vitamin, and chances are you'll see a significant increase to your bank statement. This is where the entrepreneurs come in. With money as their motivator, a group of executives make their way to Borneo to clip a couple orchids.
Sam is all work, that's what she loves. The jungle? She'll deal with it. Gail, on the other hand, would rather be anywhere but the jungle. Her satellite phone is her connection to the civilized world. She screams at anything that moves. They're supported by Gordon Morris Chestnut the numbers man, Cole Eugene Bird the computer geek, and Jack Matthew Marsden the company man who considers everything expendable to bringing back the alien, I mean, the orchid.
Johnson's a gambler and ex-military man trying to escape his demons by operating a charter craft in a distant port. It's those revealing character moments I cherish. The ones during which I find myself laughing at the movie. Knowing a little something about the local wildlife, Johnson informs the out-of-towners they've arrived at an unusual time.
As fate would have it, not only is it monsoon season, surprise: it's mating season for anacondas. They're slithering in from everywhere to meet in one location for an anaconda orgy. And if they pick off a few human snacks along the way, then so be it. And one more thing.
